A Concrete Nails PDW Drive Pin With Washer is only as good as the installation behind it. Even a well-made pin will underperform if a few basic site practices are skipped, so here's what we tell every new customer before their first bulk order:
Test-fire on a scrap section first. Concrete density varies even within the same slab — aggregate mix, curing age, and moisture content all affect penetration. A quick test shot tells you whether you're using the right power load before you commit to the full run.
Hold the tool square to the surface. Angled contact is the single most common cause of washer deformation and bent shanks. It also increases the risk of spalling around the entry point.
Match pin length to material thickness, not habit. A pin that's too long can blow through thin steel deck or crack lightweight concrete; too short, and you lose embedment depth and pull-out resistance. As a rule of thumb, aim for at least 25 mm of clean embedment into solid concrete after accounting for the base material being fastened.
Don't re-fire a pin that didn't fully seat. A partially driven pin has already deformed the substrate around it. Remove it, move a few centimeters over, and drive a fresh one.
Every production run goes through dimensional sampling and a functional fire test on representative base materials before it's cleared for packing. We check:

Keep boxes in a dry, covered storage area — avoid direct exposure to rain or high-humidity outdoor storage even short-term.
Stack pallets off the ground on dunnage to avoid moisture wicking from concrete floors.
Rotate stock on a first-in, first-out basis, especially in coastal or tropical climates where humidity is a year-round factor.
